TODD SNYDER PRESENTATION

So who had a time to stop by Todd Snyder Presentation last night in Chelsea area. I was there with clients and we were really impressed by the collection and the way of presentation. This show had style and collection is a really East Coast American fashion way, it is fresh to me and I am sure to many people.

For several years at New York fashion scene, we have seen okay collection..... well... Thom Browne, Adam Kimmel are exceptions. but really not too impress contents. They are either too noisy, unprofessional, unwearable etc.

Todd Snyder is a simple, clean, and yes! little of J.CREW essence with very details, and very easy to make your own style. This collection would help sales at many retails and it is a good thing. After all good collection is what sells well at retail stores.

Viva Todd Snyder!

昨夜、Todd Snyderのf/w11'プレゼンテーションを観に行った。先日のブログにも書いたが、とてもシンプル且つ、アメリカンテーラードの内容で素晴らしかった。スペースデザインも、クリーンなTodd Snyderな世界が満載。最近、ごちゃごちゃな要素の多いコレクションや、プレゼンテーションが行われる中、久し振りに落ち着いて見る事が出来た、素晴らしいコレクションだった。

Todd Snyderは、しっかりと日本人の心を掴むだろう。

まだまだアメリカファッションは、元気だぞ！

JOHNHUDSON showroom

There is a new showroom here in NYC was born recently and their first move will be trip to Tokyo. Mr. John Hudson himself is not too familiar with no one what he really does and who he is really.

All we know is that he seems to work with untouched, but very promising creators from local.

I found this flyer about the show in Tokyo and here are the interesting line ups.

Todd Snyder: X VP/Head designer of J.CREW men's. He was responsible for creating and merchandising the concepts/directions of LIQUOR STORE and became one of biggest retail hits in a decade. He was nominated fashion's 50 most powerful in 2008. Wow how powerful is he?　And he will be launching his very own collection from A/W11'.

MAXX & UNICORN: Chief designer at Ralph Lauren purple label. Little unknown his/her real name. They make awesome seamless leather wallets and coincases and it comes with tons of colors. they were chosen by GQ magazine as best stuff of year 2010 on December issue and thier really cool creations are becoming huge in US and ready to knock on door to Japan Market.

JOHNHUDSON showroom will be featuring some cool Japanese collections for US market soon laso and knowing how cool Mr.John Hudson is, I can not wait to see what is coming from there next.

最近、ニューヨークに新しいショールームが出来たとの話を耳にした。

ニューヨークには、沢山のショールームがあるが、どうやらこのJOHNHUDSON showroomは、メンズのみ展開するそうだ。

ラインナップを見ると、スタートしたばかりのショールームの割には、今のアメリカファッション界には欠かせない人物名が登場する。その上、彼らのプライベートコレクションのデビューシーズンとなると、かなりの注目度である。

Todd Snyder: 2009年まで、J.CREWの副社長兼メンズヘッドデザイナーを務め、アメリカファッション業界に大きな影響をもたらした、あのLIQUOR STOREを立ち上げ、大成功させた人である。また”ファッションでもっとも影響力のある50人”にも選ばれた、実力者。そのMr.Todd Snyder自身が、f/w11'からスタートさせる自身の名前を冠するコレクションを発表し、JOHNHUDSON showroomが日本向けでは、エクスクル－シブでの紹介となる模様。

MAXX & UNICORN: デザイナーはメディアを苦手とし、余り表に出てこないが、知っている限りの情報だと、J.CREWを経て、今はRALPH LAUREN PURPLE LABELチーフデザイナー。その傍ら、折り紙発想の技法を用いたシームレスの財布、カードケースをプライベートコレクションとして発表。20色以上から成るレザーアイテムは、発表直後、いきなりファッション誌のGQから"BEST STUFF OF YEAR 2010"に選ばれた。

まだまだ日本では認知度が低いブランドだが、今後の話題になる2ブランドである事は、確信している。

これらのブランドをどこよりも先にピックした、John Hudson氏とは、何者なのか？

若旦那

Recently I met this interesting person from Japan who is about to have 2nd home in New York City. His name is Wakadanna (young master) and he has a music group call Shonan no Kaze( Wind of Shonnan beach). They are Reggae inspired Japanese rock band and has huge follower there. I was not really familiar with them till I was intorduced from our mutual firend. More I know about their music, more impress I get.

Wakadanna is a leading men of the group and he has just released his first solo song call Inochi (Life). This song is dedicated to his parents with giving them a big thank you for everything.

As soon as Inochi was released, this went straight to No.1 hit song in cable broadcasting chart now. I am very happy for Wakadanna and hope to see him more often in New York. He is a very down to earth guy and has no attitude at least when he is in New York!!

最近、友人の紹介で湘南の風の若旦那にお会いする機会があった。知っている方は多いと思いますが、湘南の風は、レゲーにインスパイアーされた日本のロックグループ。若旦那は、そこのリーダー的存在の人だ。昨年よりニューヨークにも活動拠点を置き、お互いの子供の年も同じせいか、ニューヨークに戻ってくる際には、連絡を取る関係となった。お会いする前は、恥ずかしい事に彼のことは全く知らなかったが、今では湘南の風のファンになってしまった。社員の一人も、若旦那の大ファン。色々と周りの人に聞いてみると、100％彼らの存在を知っている。最近若旦那が、ソロデビューをした。いのち～桜の記憶～という歌だ。リリース直後、いきなりの有線1位！！この歌は、今まで感謝の気持ちを伝えて来なかった両親に向けてのビッグサンキューソングだ。この歌が、何しろ最高！！聞いた瞬間に、ハートにズドーン。是非時間が有ったら、聞いて欲しい。最高なソング！若旦那本人も最高な男。陰ながら応援してますよ！！もうちょっとニューヨークに来る頻度が多ければ良いのに。。。。
