I just came back from Tokyo and had blasts there as usual.I went to many many cool stores and impressed most with TODD SNYDER GENERAL STORE at BIOTOP adam et rope in Shirogane, Tokyo.
As all of you may know or heard his name already that Todd Snyder was a head men's designer at J.CREW and creative director for the LIQUOR STORE. Yes, he is the man behind the cool store in Tribeca.
He is very well known in USA, but no comparison in Japan. He is everywhere.
All the top magazine is featuring him every month, not just writing his name, but giving him full page, if not 2 opening pages. There is no doubt that his success at J.CREW made him more popular there, but even become more popular after launching his own collection.
His utilitarian/luxury collection has been well accpeted by Japanese fashion freaks and it is well presented at this concept store with other brands like briggs umbrella, bates hat, postal co, john derian, bit o honey candy, choward's mint, marvis tooth paste etc.
I feel comfortable to say that Todd Snyder is the next big thing from USA.

昨夜、東京より2週間の出張から戻った。
今回も、バタバタの毎日だったが、とても充実した一時帰国となった。
滞在中は、クライエントのショップは勿論のこと、多くの新しいショップに足を運んだ。どうしても、クライエントのショップは、ひいきに見てしまうが、その中で最も感動したのは、白金にあるBIOTOP adam et ropeだ。10月8日より、今最も注目を集めている、Todd Snyderのpop up shopを開催している。
皆さんもご存知と思うが、Todd Snyderは、元J.CREWのメンズヘッドデザイナーであり、あのLIQUOR STOREを立ち上げた人だ。その彼が、今季より自身のコレクションを発表し、今ではどの雑誌をみても、彼の名前を至る所で目にする。恐らく、今のメンズ業界で、一番注目されているデザイナーだと思う。
そのTodd Snyder Collectionにいち早く注目し、pop up shopを開催しているJUNグループだが、GENERAL STOREは、コレクション以外に、ユニークな他ブランドとのMDを組んでいる。たとえば、日本でいう森永のキャラメルである、BIT O HONEY CANDY, 古くから続くミントブランドのCHOWARD'S MINTや、老舗ブランドMARVIS (歯磨き粉)などが並んでおり、進化したLIQUOR STOREを楽しめる。
それにしてもTodd Snyderは、ユニークな提案が出来るデザイナーだ。
今後の活動に多いに期待をしたい。
