Empire State Building New LED Light Show - Alicia Keys
On my way back home last night, I was kind of looking up the Empire State Building as usual and this is what I encountered. The LED light show was synchronized with Alicia Keys music. It was very cool things to see and I think it was very first time to hold the light show on Empire State Building ever! And it was with 16 million colors!!
昨夜、仕事の帰りに、いつものクセでふとEmpire State Buildingを見たときに、えーっという出来事に遭遇。Alicia Keysの"Empire State of Mind"の歌とシンクロして、LEDのライトショーが行われた。何も知らずにいきなり、1600万個色のライティングを見せられると流石、ニューヨークと言うしかない。

Hurricane Sandy
This is what exactly happened and many of us were in this area with no power for almost a week.
This image may look really cool, but it was tough to been here.
Many people now have power back, but much more people are still under recovering from hurricane.

先週起きた、ハリケーンサンディ。月曜日の夜に、ブチっと停電してから、５日間ほど電気がない生活を送りました。
先日出た、NEW YORK MAGAZINEの表紙。私は、丁度この暗いエリアに居ました。
ハリケーンの前から、出されていたニューヨーク市からの警告。市民は、ある程度の準備をし備えたが、まさかの長い停電騒動。
Con Edisonの責任は、重大だと思う。

Todd Snyder, he is on right now as men's hottest designer in USA and Japan/asia.
He got GQ MEN'S BEST DESIGNER OF THE YEAR and look what he has now with GAP.
GQ X GAP is collaborating some ideas recently and whoever gets that award, designer(s) will have access to play with GAP line with limited number of items, ofcourse. Good for you Todd!
BTW, Saturdays Surf is also getting this opportunities and I will see for myself at launching party tonight!

今、ニューヨークで最も忙しいデザイナーの一人、Todd Snyder.
FW11'からスタートしたコレクションは、2012年に入り、GQ best men's designer of the yearに選ばれ, CFDA best new designerにノミネートされるなど、Toddの勢いは止まらない。
既に、日本でも多くのファンを持つ彼は、積極的に来日をし、素晴らしいショップなどとのイベントを実現している。10月にもビッグイベント予定。詳細は、追ってお知らせします！
そんな中、GQと、GAPが色々な試みをしている昨今。GQ best men's designerに選ばれたデザイナー達は、期間、店舗共に限定されたGAPアイテムのデザインを手掛けると言う、スペシャル企画が今晩発表される。どんなアイテムを、デザインしているか楽しみ！！

They cruise down the Hudson river, circle around the statue of Liberty and back in a city.
What a way of marketing the brand.
ラッゲージメーカーのRIMOWAが、粋なプロモーションをしました。
第二次世界大戦中に、ドイツ輸送機として活躍したJunkers JU-52機を、RIMOWA機としてマンハッタン上空をクルーズした。
実際に、売上にどの程度貢献するかは未知数だが、きちんと、ブランドアイデンティティーを考えたブランド戦略だと感じた。

I saw him at least 10-15 locations per day. That is a lot!!
Eikichi Yazawa is in music business since 1972 and he is well known to have warm supporters for a long time.
How much would it cost to have one billboard? He is spending rediculously amount for this new album promotions.
先週急用があり、3日間ほど一時帰国していました。
成田に着いてから東京滞在期間中、この永ちゃんのニューアルバムのポスター、感心するほどの数を見ました。
これって、久し振りに戻っているか気付くのかな？最近、東京を旅行者感覚で見る時が有って、よく上を見ながら歩きます。

Marilyn Monroe
There is Lawrence Shiller's photo exhibit at Steven Kasher Gallery in Chelsea, NY, call "Marilyn & Me".
Most of the pictures were taken in early 60's when Marilyn was just 36 years old.
Lawrence Shiller's portraits are so lively and he can make womens all look sexy.
This is must go exhibit.
今日、オフィスの周りをぷらぷらしていたら、Steven Kasher Galleryで、Lawrence Shillerの、Marilyn Monroeの写真展を開催していた。Marilyn Monroeは、当然知っているし、まっ見てみるか程度で入った瞬間、何？この綺麗なお方は。。。。。Marilynの虜になった。
殆どの写真は、1960～62年辺りなので、彼女が36歳頃までの写真。Lawrence Shillerのポートレートは、その瞬間のベストを捉えている。もしニューヨークにいる方は、是非。

Pantone iPhone Case
I like Pantone with no reason. I simply has this fascination about the people of color. Pantone relased a new set of cases for the iPhone 4 and iPad with classic Pantone styling.
These cases are available in 9 colors with their own Pantone color swatch identifier. Awesome.

Paper Leica M3 pinhole camera
If you can't affrod the real Leica digital camera, here is a perfect one for you. Designer Matt Nicholson has came up with the idea creating the PRINTABLE Leica M3 pinhole camera! Simply print out the desing online, cut, fold and tape into shape. That simple. I love it.

This summer's option to getaway!
45 minutes to the Hamptons sounds too good. On high season weekend, it would take easily over 4 hours.
Looking at pricing, if you charter the plane, you will be spending good amount of cash, but if you could find 6 other people to join you, then one way becomes $525, not bad.
Now I have more options this summer to socialize with Hampton people, Yay!?......
BTW, this idea is offered by Andre Balazs from The Standard hotel. Who else.
ニューヨークに頻繁に来られる方は、ご存知と思いますが、夏になると、Long Islandに位置するHampton, Montaukへ、マンハッタンリッチ層が、大移動します。Hamptonは日本でいうと、軽井沢と葉山を足して、割る２？的なイメージとお考えください。何しろリッチな方々が、別荘を持つエリアです。
来週のMemorial weekendを皮切りに、シーズンがスタートします。
マンハッタンからだと、約１９０キロほど有り、渋滞も凄い。週末にもなると、４時間は見たほうがよいでしょう。ここが、頭の痛いところ。私は、渋滞が大嫌いなので、なかなか足が向かないのです。
でも今日、いきなりメールが入り、４５分でHamptonに行く事が出来るサービスを発見！
チャーター便ですが、７人を集えば、片道$525で行けちゃう！
素晴らしい！！このサイトをよーく見たら、あのThe Standard hotelのAndre Balzsが始めたサービスだった。さすが！
今年の夏は、利用しようかな？

Takashi Kumagai Photo Exhibit in Tokyo
Photographer, fashion stylist, creative director for fashion brands, store producing, plantings, business man, he may need carrying so many business cards to describe what he does.
Takashi's individual ocean-inspired pieces will be on display while limited edition T-shirts featuring the summery photography will be on hand, specially made for the event. Set to debut on April 28, the venue will also play host to a related “special talk show” that same day.

SHUTTLE ON JUMBO JET
To me, this is very American way of thinking. ”Let's put the shuttle on top of it and fly with it!” This is probably the easiest and functional way to carry the shuttle and dynamic way of thinking. Very American to me. Love it.
If this takes place in Japan, we will probably disparts them and carry parts, re assemble them and make it better than original one somehow?
アメリカでは、シャトルの移動を、ジャンボに載せて行う事を知っていましたか？
何とも、アメリカ的な合理的で、ダイナミックなアイディアだと思いませんか？私は、このようなアメリカの考えが好きです。
これが日本だと、恐らく解体して、移動。到着後、再び組み立てをし、解体前よりもっと精度の高いシャトルが、何故か出来ちゃいそう？

MAISON DE REEFUR opened in Daikanyama Tokyo on 4/17!
As some people may recognized Daikanyama name already that Daikanyama is one of the hot shopping area in Tokyo now. There are TSUTAYA book store, SATURDAYS SURF, and this MAISON DE REEFUR which is produced by super model Rinka.
I would say the store concept is her apartment where you find candles, bed linens, fragrance, kitchenware, staionary, men's and kid's items, so many!
We are pleased to be part of this store project and will offering much more fun items to please people in Daikanyama. Please come to shop!!
