I happened to love them as much as many New Yorkers out there.

It is pain to get there, but we all know it would worth a trip once you open your mouth.

I love the pizza, but ROBERTA'S ain't good just for that. They serve top notch cuisine menu changes every time just because the chef knows what he has best on that day.

Even though Roberta’s is known as a pizzeria, it’s O.K. to skip the pizzas. Not that there’s anything wrong with them — they're nicely singed in a wood-burning oven — but the kitchen is also turning out subtle and polished dishes in the back, like pickled pig's tongue, or mackerel, which might come with braised lemon jelly and puréed peas. This is not pizzeria fare, and it’s not what you expect to find in a part of the Bushwick section of Brooklyn where street traffic seems to be evenly divided between concrete trucks and fixed-gear bikes. Roberta’s fits right in. The restaurant looks like a cinderblock bunker, and the beer and wine are served in jelly jars, but the food is as confident and relaxed as thscruffy clientele.

最近、ブルックリンのBushwickという工業地帯にある、ROBERTA'Sというレストランにはまっている。多くのニューヨーカーの中では、この様な会話をよく耳にする。

”ステーキハウスで、一番は？”　”Peter Lugarでしょ”  "ピザで、一番は？” ”ROBERTA'S"でしょ”という流れになる確率が、とても高い。どちらもブルックリンに所在するという、不思議な偶然なのか、話し合ってそうなったのか？何故か美味しいレストランは、ブルックリンにある。

ROBERTA'Sのピザは、勿論最高。いつ、何を食べても満足する味。自分のお気に入りは、Margheritaかな？サラダだって、さらっとオーガニックな味。盛り付けも、何ともセンスがいい。

ROBERTA'Sのチャームは、ピザを打ち出しているのだけど、その他のアイテムも、一流レストラン級。是非ピザ以外も試してもらいたい。それもそのはず、同じオーナーがもう１つのBLANCAという、一人$200のChef's kitchenでグルメ達を魅了する、tasting menu onlyの最高に粋なレストランも切盛りしているからだ。

Japan trip

I just came back from such an awesome trip from Japan.

I was with Todd Snyder for the first week to go through the very first flagship store in Tokyo and I will update more details as soon as I am allowed.

After Todd left, I joined with Saturdays Surf and we made trip to Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya and Fukui for many reasons including possible 3rd store for Japan. I will also update more when I am allowed.

I met so many people this time and really exciting to work together for various projects for upcoming Spring.

昨晩、約３週間ほどの日本出張より戻ってきました。

今回は、Todd Snyder初となる日本旗艦店オープンに向けてのミーティングと、Saturdays Surfの３店舗目に向けてのりサーチを兼ねた、とても充実した日程となった。

詳細は、追ってご報告をさせて頂きます。

一時帰国中に、大阪、神戸、名古屋、福井など色々と回り、改めて日本の素晴らしさを実感した出張になった。

また仕事を通じて、今回も沢山の方々とお会いする機会が出来、今後ご一緒に進めていくプロジェクトに対する意気込みが、更に湧いた出張でもあった。

TODD SNYDER X CHAMPION

TODD SNYDER + CHAMPION TO OPEN FIRST STORE

New York, NY - On November 2, Todd Snyder + Champion will open its first collaborative store in Manhattan's Nolita neighborhood at 242 Elizabeth Street. Fittingly dubbed City Gym — after Snyder's debut collection for the iconic sportswear company — the shop will feature the complete Todd Snyder + Champion collection.  In addition, it will be equipped with athletic-inspired industrial furniture by ABC Carpet & Home.

Designed in collaboration with Champion’s Chief Design Officer, Ned Munroe, who worked closely with Snyder on the collection that draws inspiration from vintage New York Athletic Club images and the brand’s authentic sports heritage, City Gym will also function as a curio of sorts, stocking Snyder's favorite sporting goods, including bicycles and watches from Detroit's Shinola; throwback ballcaps from Seattle's Ebbets Field, Hoosier bats and Leatherhead balls; books by Assouline and bottled juice from Liquiteria. The store will also feature an exclusive retail assortment of curated goods by Kaufman Mercantile and a selection of new and vintage magazines from Snyder's personal collection.
