Nuclear Power Plant (原子力発電所）

As we have been seeing about the situations with nuclear power plant in Japan, it is still uncertainty what is really happening now, but all the heros out there has been trying their best to fix it now. And it will be fixed.
I did not know much about these establishments before and now I feel we all should know more about it for your own sake.

Nuclear Power Plant is produced by controlled (non explosive) nuclear reactions. Commercial and utility plants currently use nuclear fissions reactions to heat water to produce steam, which is then used to generate electricity.
Nuclear power provides about 6% of the world's energy and 13-14% of the world's electricity with the US, France, and Japan together accounting for about 50% of nuclear generated electricity.

USA: 104 cardinal numbers in operation and they are planning to build 1 more. See below placement of nuclear power plant reactors in USA.

France: 59 and no plan for more.

Japan: 55 and planning to have 11 more now. But I am sure things are on hold now.

We are very concerned about the exsistance of these establishments and at the same time, we are so rely on these establishments.......

大地震が発生して以来、世界の人々の考え方、行動が変化したと思う。日本の皆さんは、とても辛い体験をまともに受け、本当に大変だと思います。一刻も早く、日本の復活を目にしたい。僕も、ニューヨークから出来ることはしようと思います。
その中でも、原子力発電所の問題は、深刻です。今回の出来事を教訓に、少し原発のことを説明します。
原子力発電所は、原子炉を利用して、核燃料であるウランやプルトニウムが核分裂反応をする際に発生する熱で水を沸騰させ、水蒸気で蒸気タービンを動かして発電する発電所のことである。また原子力発電を行う場所そのものを指す。

世界の６％のエネルギーは、原子力より供給され、全世界の１４％ほどの発電量も原子力から供給されている。その中で、フランス、アメリカ、日本は、世界で見ても原子力への依存度が高い。

２００８年１月現在のデーターですが、この３国の原子力発電所の数と、依存度は以下になります。

アメリカ：１０４基数。さらに１基計画中。依存度は、２０％。
フランス：５９基数。依存度は、７７％。
日本：５５基数。さらに１１基計画中。依存度は、３５％

現在、世界的には２つの流れがある。すなわちエネルギー源としての原子力の利用を削滅、廃止していこうという流れと、エネルギー源としての原子力の利用を推進していこうという流れである。

僕としては、原子力に変わる安全なエネルギーの源があるのであれば、是非お願いしたい。でも、ないのであれば、原子力発電所の環境を絶対なものにしてほしい。３０メートルの津波、マグネチュード２０．０の地震を想定して設計をお願いしたい。

EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN

Everyone heard and witnessed the powerful earthquake in Japan yesterday.
All of my family, freinds, clients are well.
But I just wanted to express that my thoughts are with you all out there and hope especially in North part of Japan will recover soon and find and rescue as many people as possible.

Don't give up Nippon, Don't give up Tohoku !!

起きて直ぐ、テレビを付けた瞬間、自分の目を疑った。
津波の映像が出てきた瞬間、”これ、日本じゃないよね？”と妻との会話。
アメリカでも、朝からトップニュースでの報道に、一瞬9/11を思い出した。

家族、友人、クライエントの皆さんと連絡が取れ、無事の確認をした。良かった。でも東北の方々の事を考えると、とても辛い。
一日も早く、一人でも多くの人々を助けて欲しい。

Who is Aaron Draplin?

Who is Aaron Draplin??
May be people who is deeply involved in snowboard culture may know. I did not know till very recently.
Portland, OR based designer, Aaron Draplin is a popular creator in snowboard world now. His designs are bright, simple, eye catching and hard to forget once you witnessed.
His impressive work are recognized by impressive companies such as Burton, Ride, Forum snowboards etc and he has been responsible for designning many company logos.
if this still does not ring a bell for you, he is the one created the "FEILD NOTES".
If you still have no idea what I am talking about, you need to look around little more and find somethihg that interest you.

I love to ask him to logo my company!!

最近、気になるロゴを見掛ける事が多くなった。
とてもクリーンで、明るくて、ポップなアートワークだ。言いたい事が、伝わってくるストリートスマートなアートデザインだ。特にスノーボードカルチャーシーンで目にするが多いが、誰だこのアートワークbyは？？
by Aaron Draplinというポートランド、オレゴンに拠点を置くデザイナーだ。
スノーボード雑誌のアートディレクターを経て、２００４年に自らのDraplin Design Companyを設立。今ではBurtonを始め、多くの企業が彼の才能を認め、会社ロゴなどの依頼が殺到している。
彼の才能は、デザインだけにとどまらず、マーケティングでも発揮され、友人と立ち上げたノートブックブランドの" FIELD NOTES"は、アパレルショップを主に、今では全米で目にするほどのブランドになっている。
日本でも、彼のデザインを目にする日は、そう遠い日ではないだろう。
