PUMA x Noah Star

Introducing the PUMA x Noah Star. Well, not exactly…

The PUMA Star is a re-issue of the PUMA Wimbledon, a professional tennis shoe from the late ‘70s, named after the oldest and most prestigious of all Grand Slam Tournaments.

This model was never released in the USA, and although you are unlikely to see anybody playing tennis in them today, they embody the sport’s appreciation for tasteful performance and off-the-court elegance.

The design features a stitched-on rubber cup sole with a split herringbone traction outsole profile and a perforated Formstrip. For their debut in the American market, we opted to keep the sneakers white with blue, a nod to PUMA’s heritage colorways.

Noah is proud to bring back the PUMA Star classic silhouette for its global relaunch, available exclusively from Noah on June 29th and PUMA Select retailers on July 1.

Worst air quality city in the world

Clear sky in the morning at 8am to start a day in nyc then to orange sky around noon to ongoing for couple hours. Air quality index gradually begun to rise from the category "unhealthy" to "very unhealthy" to finally to "hazardous". This was the moment that New York City became the worst air quality city in the world.

We all smelled smoke, hurting my throat and eyes from wild fire from Canada.

The smoke and plunge in air quality resurrected scenes familiar from the pandemic lockdown in March 2020, and a feeling of helplessness against forces out of our control Masks returned to faces.

Is this a part of global warming cases? Definitely yes.

WASARA

Earth-Conscious

Sustainability

Life is not just about people. It is about living in harmony with nature. In the island nation of Japan, traditional wisdom called for people to live according to nature’s cycles. It is not enough to consider our short time on the earth; we must contemplate the health and prosperity of the environment that will be home to future generations one hundred and even one thousand years from now. The true meaning of environmental awareness is understanding how to interact with nature and how to live truly sustainable lifestyles.

Return to the Earth ? Compostable

WASARA tableware is fully compostable. People, animals, trees and grasses ? in the end we all return to the earth, and from there new life is born again. WASARA, too, was created to be used in moments when people gather, and later cycled back in to nature.

*Compostable
The definition of composability under ASTM-D6400 certification obtained by WASARA states that the material will: 1) decompose into carbon dioxide, water, and inorganic compounds; 2) undergo extensive decomposition, losing its original form within 90 days; and 3) leave behind no toxic materials.

Design

Organic Form and Beautiful Texture

Elegant and flowing form that fits straight into one’s hands, texture like handmade Japanese paper, subtle shading, and the beautiful image of the dishes stacked on top of each other. We place great importance on the touch of the tableware and the feeling when you bring it to your mouth. In the search for a design that is easy to hold, we settled on the organic form of WASARA. It has a natural fit with the curvature of human hands, and brings grace to the movements of everyone who holds it. With elegant form and texture that reflect its handcrafted roots, WASARA is the essence of functional beauty, made possible by the unparalleled skill of Japanese craftsmen. Such skillful modeling has resulted in these exquisite forms overflowing with character.

Materials of WASARA

Raw Materials

In a time when globally we are reconsidering our energy use and impact on the environment, WASARA has been designed to use all tree-free materials, specifically, bamboo and bagasse. Bamboo grows extremely fast, and is a hardy plant that is readily renewed. Bagasse is a sugarcane fiber after extracting juice from sugarcane, and approximately one hundred million tons is produced every year. While some is burned for fuel, much of it is simply discarded as waste*. However, with fiber very similar to broadleaf trees, the intrinsic properties of bagasse make it perfect as a paper base. And because it is softer and more pliable than wood pulp, the energy requirement in production is significantly reduced. Based on bamboo and bagasse, environmentally-friendly WASARA products reduce the burden on the natural environment, and can be produced without fear of exhausting our natural resources.
